Pasco-Hernando State College combines high-tech educational facilities and state-of-the-art programs with a focus on teaching for student success. With five convenient campuses, students can expect personalized attention, small class sizes, highly credentialed faculty, and tuition and fees that are among the most affordable in the State of Florida.

 

The Associate in Arts (AA) degree program provides a solid foundation in the arts and sciences. Successful completion of PHSC’s AA degree guarantees seamless transfer to one of Florida’s public universities or state colleges at the junior level. 

 

*PHSC provides training for more than 30 high demand careers in business, health, industry and technology, and public service through a new bachelor's degree, Associate in Science degrees and certificate programs.

 

*PHSC offers educational opportunities for students of all ages and abilities. Their “Open Door” policy welcomes all high school graduates and GED recipients. And, they have five nearby locations to serve you in Brooksville, Dade City, New Port Richey, Spring Hill and Wesley Chapel.

 

*PHSC has two campuses that are within a short drive of Zephyrhills.

 

Their newest campus, The Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch, is located in Wesley Chapel at 2727 Mansfield Blvd.  In addition to the Associate in Arts degree, they offer the Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management, as well as a nursing program.  The Porter Campus also offers two health programs exclusively on their campus.

 

One is a technical certificate as a Pharmacy Technician.  The purpose of this program is to prepare students to work as pharmacy technicians in retail and institutional pharmacy settings, under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Students successfully completing this program are eligible to register with the Florida Board of Pharmacy and sit for the national pharmacy technician certification examination administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

 

The second is also a technical certificate in Surgical Technology.  The purpose of this program is to prepare students to work as surgical technologists in hospital operating rooms, outpatient surgical centers, labor and delivery units, physician's offices and medical sales positions.  The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

 

PHSC’s first campus, the East Campus in Dade City located at 36727 Blanton Road has multiple programs offered only at the East Campus. Many of these programs are in public service technology.  They include Law Enforcement and Corrections academies preparing students to become police officers or correctional officers. Many of these students are hired by local police departments. They also have a fire academy that prepares students to become fire fighters.  These first responder programs are essential in serving the local community. 

Coming in the fall of 2020 to the East Campus will be a new Associate of Science degree program in Forensics and Crime Scene Investigation. This program will collaborate with local police agencies to provide training opportunities for students. The program will also have a dedicated forensics lab on campus.

 

Additionally, the East Campus has four Associate of Science degree programs offered exclusively on the East Campus. They include Professional Pilot Technology, which prepares students to become professional pilots using on site Redbird flight simulators for practice and partnering with a local flight school for flight training. An Aviation Administration degree for those desiring a career in the aviation field. Aviation Maintenance Administration, which prepares aviation maintenance employees for advancement opportunities. Finally, with a degree in Unmanned Vehicle Systems Operation that consists of the latest high tech equipment such as robotics and drones that are used in the field. This exciting new program prepares students for careers in a rapidly growing market that is high demand and high wage.

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management with five areas of concentration, including two new areas.

    • New: Cybersecurity Management and Aviation Administration

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing:

    • Now is a full-time accelerated online program.

 

  • PHSC is currently reviewing data and labor market statistics of local workforce needs that may lead to PHSC offering additional baccalaureate degrees in workforce or the health sciences.

 

New Associate of Science Degrees:

  • Cyber & Information Security (College-wide)

  • Marketing Management (College-wide)

 

Coming in Fall 2020:

  • AS Degree in Forensic Science & Crime Scene Technology (East Campus, Dade City)

Program Expansion

  • Welding program now has two shifts at the East Campus in Dade City and now PHSC is offering an evening class at Marchman Technical College in New Port Richey

  • The welding shop at the East campus is now an American Welding Society certified testing center. People may now become AWS certified welders at PHSC’s East Campus.

 

PHSC’s LPN programmed Ranked First in the State!

Pasco-Hernando State College was recently ranked first among Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) programs in Florida by NursingProcess.org. In Florida, there are more than 160 LPN programs that are approved by the Florida Board of Nursing. NursingProcess.org ranked the top 15 programs, with PHSC coming in first.

“This latest ranking validates our diligence in providing high quality and affordable nursing program opportunities to the communities we serve,” said Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D., president, Pasco-Hernando State College.

Each program highlighted on the rankings list received a score based on several important factors, including NCLEX-PN first-time pass rates, graduation rate, academic quality and affordability.

In addition to degree and certificate programs, PHSC also offers continuing education opportunities to support local business.  Greater explanation and sample East Campus courses are shown below.

Continuing Professional Education courses are designed for busy working students and are offered at convenient times.

  • Campus based Continuing Professional Education courses offer certification, licensure and training for health, business and computer professionals, workers in child care, and more.

  • Ed2Go online courses provide basic and advanced skills training in an online environment.

  • OLT online courses provide online training for real estate and insurance professionals.

  • Law Enforcement Advanced Classes are offered through the PHSC Law Enforcement Academy located on the East Campus in Dade City. 

  • Fire Science Technical Certificate courses provide technical training for local fire science personnel in accordance with the state of Florida requirements. Saint Leo University’s Donald R. Tapia College of Business received initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP) in November 2014. Saint Leo’s undergraduate Sport Business program and MBA Sport Business Concentration are accredited by the Commission on Sport Management Accredita­tion (COSMA).
